  19. Subject: Using The WinFax TSR With A Fax/Modem On IRQ5
  20.  
  21. Situation:
  22. ==========
  23. You want to use the WinFax TSR to receive faxes in DOS with a fax/modem 
  24. on IRQ5.
  25.  
  26. Solution:
  27. =========
  28. Perform the following procedure to change the configuration of the
  29. WinFax TSR:
  30.  
  31. 1.  Open the WINFAX.INI file in Windows Notepad, or any other basic text 
  32.     editor. The WINFAX.INI file is usually located in your WinFax 
  33.     directory (for example C:\WINFAX).
  34.  
  35. 2.  In the [TSR] section of the WINFAX.INI, make the following changes:
  36.  
  37.     a)  Place a semicolon at the beginning of the PORT= line to "remark 
  38.         out" the line. For example:
  39.  
  40.           ;PORT=1
  41.  
  42.     b)  Add the line:
  43.  
  44.           ComIRQ=5
  45.  
  46.     c)  Add the line ...
  47.  
  48.           ComIOBase=xxx
  49.  
  50.         ... where xxx is the address of the COM port to which your 
  51.         fax/modem is connected, as follows:
  52.  
  53.           COM Port   Address
  54.  
  55.           COM 1        3f8
  56.           COM 2        2f8
  57.           COM 3        3e8
  58.           COM 4        2e8
  59.  
  60. Notes:  Specify the above addresses using lower case letters (for
  61.         example, use "3f8" not "3F8").
  62.  
  63.         If you have an IBM PS/2 system, leave the base address 
  64.         configuration at the default settings of 2e8 for COM3 and 2e0 
  65.         for COM4.
  66.  
  67. 3.  Save the changes to your WINFAX.INI and exit the text editor.
  68.  
  69. Note:   This procedure reflects standard base address configurations for 
  70.         most computers. Consult your hardware dealer or fax/modem 
  71.         manufacturer if this procedure does not work with your computer 
  72.         system.
